The master-planned community of Poinciana was conceived in the 1960’s and was originally planned as a retirement area. However, with the advent of Walt Disney World, plans were changed in the 1980’s as the need for more homes and services grew exponentially.
The original concept of villages within a city held up well with developers and planners, and 10 villages within Poinciana were then projected. The enormous area covers acreage in both Osceola County and Polk County and has expanded to include more villages, though the original 10 are the only ones deemed “deed restricted” and fall under the Poinciana HOA.
Between the years of 2000-2010, the area has grown an astonishing 289% and remains one of the fastest growing areas of Osceola County. This is no surprise, as Disney’s 12,000 acre Wilderness Preserve is right next door.
Also, 2 beautiful golf clubs, parks and athletic fields within the villages, and Horse World Riding Stables are minutes from nearly every village home.
With its location just a 30-minute drive to Disney World, as well as commuting distance to both Orlando and Lakeland, the options for work and play are generous. And, the best of Osceola and Polk County schools are zoned for these family-friendly villages.
There are also a wide variety of lot sizes, floor plans, and open lots from which to choose. And, townhomes, condos, and villas are a perfect investment for Florida winter visitors. The commuter service of Sunrail is currently working on a stop in Poinciana, so those wishing to travel throughout the Orlando area by train is just around the corner. Just one more great reason to find a home here!
